Transfer Credit Policy

Students can take courses at other institutions and transfer those credits to the University of Alabama to be applied to their degree program. Kinesiology major core classes and the Exercise Science Concentration classes must be taken at the University of Alabama and cannot be transferred in. For more clarification regarding which classes cannot be taken at another institution, contact your academic advisor.

Before transferring a course, we encourage you to use the Transfer Credit Equivalency Table to make sure the course you are taking is equivalent to the course that is needed at the University of Alabama. Before taking classes at a different university or a community college, you will need to complete the Letter of Transiency. When searching, UA equivalencies numbered 197 or 397 are considered elective credit only. The “GEC” subject area prefix designates General Elective Credit and is not discipline-specific. Once you have completed the course at the transfer institution, you will need to submit an official transcript to the University of Alabama to have your transcript and Degree Works updated.
