Need to Request Permission to Add a Course?

The request to join a class that is closed or that has already reached capacity, called a capacity override permit, must be approved by the instructor of that particular class. If granted, this permit must be processed by the home department in which the course is offered.  Kinesiology advisors cannot give you an override for a class. You can complete the Permit Override Form to request permission to be overriden into a Kinesiology class. Please allow 3-5 business days for your request to be processed. This form is not for classes in other majors. If you complete the Override Form requesting an override into a class that is not a Kinesiology class, you will not receive a response.

Requesting a capacity override does not guarantee approval. The decision to grant a capacity override is completely up to the instructor of that course based on the policies of the individual department, the type of instruction of the course, and the capacity of the room in which the class is being held.

If you are permitted to override into a full class, once the permit is processed, you will not be able to register for the class like you would for a class that has seats available. Instead, you will have to add the class on the add/drop page of myBama using the 5-digit CRN number for that course, which can be found on the schedule of classes on myBama.
